This Spectacle Technician Apprenticeship is perfect for those considering a career in optics. Our Apprenticeship scheme allows individuals of all ages to boost their existing skillset and kickstart an exciting new career while earning a full-time wage.
We have a wonderful team of dedicated people in our store ready to support you. The apprenticeship scheme offers:
- £8 an hour with a salary review every 3 months
- 40 hours per week, with weekend working essential
- Auto-enrolment into the pension scheme with employer contribution

Your on-the-job training will be complemented by structured learning, and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Level 3 Spectacle Technician.
To get started as a Spectacle Apprentice, you’ll need:
- A grade 9-4 (A*-C) GCSE in Maths (or equivalent/predicted result)
- To have lived in the EU for 3 years or more, with the right to work in the UK
The role involves producing customer orders from scratch, interpreting optical prescriptions and drawings, correcting faults, re-assembling glasses, carrying out testing and adjustments, and maintaining materials and equipment. It’s essential that you haven’t previously worked in the Optical Sector. Please ensure you can travel to the store location daily.
