As a Packaging Technologist, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing the sustainability of our packaging solutions across the world. You’ll join our dedicated sustainability team working to ensure our packaging meets the highest environmental standards while maintaining quality and functionality.
You’ll lead projects improving the sustainability of our packaging across various products and materials. You’ll coordinate and advise on packaging testing and trials, create, and manage technical packaging specifications, and oversee the approval of packaging artwork and regulatory compliance. You’ll research into sustainable packaging innovations, and market trends which will help shape the future of our packaging and support our global teams, including M&D, Supply Chain, and our Product teams.
You’ll be responsible for leading and reporting on mandatory packaging legislation and associated data, managing relationships with external consultancies and agencies to support regulatory reporting globally. Maintaining a schedule of packaging improvement projects, you’ll report against Specsavers Sustainability ESG strategy and 2030 targets, staying aware of environmental legislation and best practices across all regions.
You’ll have related degree in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, or Sustainability, along with technical packaging knowledge and an understanding of relevant legislation. Experience of managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritising tasks in a will be crucial.
A passion for sustainability, strong analytical skills, and a creative mindset to support innovation are essential. Experience in the retail/FMCG product sector and compliance experience would also be great!
