About the store
Specsavers in Consett first opened its doors over 20 years ago and sits in a prominent position on the main high street and is firmly embedded within the local community. Specsavers in Consett pride themselves in ensuring that every one of their customers receives an excellent patient experience. The high levels of service and patient care have led to numerous positive customer reviews and an excellent local reputation.
A team of 11 dedicated and passionate colleagues call this store home. 7 of these members of staff originate from Consett so there’s a real community feel. There is an onsite lab and Lab Manager as well as 4 test rooms all equipped with the latest clinical technology including OCT. They offer enhanced clinical services such as cataract referrals, MECS, IOP refinement and children’s school screening.
The existing Retail Partner is also a CLO and has been with the business since it opened. He’s passionate about the clinical development of the team, and as the new Optometry Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required. Furthermore, the store in Consett is due for a refit so this will be a fantastic opportunity to plan and design the store of the future.
Store location
The store is located in the heart of the vibrant town of Consett, a pretty countryside, top of hill location. Consett sits above the Derwent Valley, where there are excellent sailing and fishing clubs. The countryside surrounding the town is stunning with the edge of the Pennines and Derwent reservoir within easy reach. There are excellent transport links with a mainline railway station within walking distance of the store and access to the A68 and A1 nearby. With new housing being developed in the area, Consett is a convenient commuter village to Newcastle and Durham, both around 15 miles away.
Requirements of the role
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist with the drive, passion and willingness to maintain the customer-focused culture and the high standards of this successful store. As the new Optometry Partner, you’ll be able to provide a unique blend of customer care and professional excellence. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the existing team, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an ability to build strong relationships within the local community.
