Specsavers in Galashiels are looking for a dedicated and passionate Optometrist to become their new Optometry Director / Store Partner. About The Store

Specsavers in Galashiels enjoys a prominent location on the central high street and has customers travelling from far and wide to access its services. The store boasts an already large market share for the area and has a very diverse patient demographic. The area has recently invested in more community services and a new Academy bringing more people and jobs to the area. The store has an impressive 5 optical test rooms and a soundproof audiology space for hearcare services. The store offers enhanced clinical services including contact lens fitting for hospital, shared care for diabetic retinal screening and housing the current AOC lead in store. A team of 28 dedicated and passionate colleagues call this store home and there are further plans to grow. The current Partners have always been passionate about the development of the team, and as the new optometry Director you would have the scope to advise on training requirements, introduce new specialisms and build/shape the team further as required.

Store location

Galashiels is a rural market town in the heart of the Scottish borders. It is steeped in history and boasts beautiful natural scenery, which is ideal for walkers, trail runners, bikers, and even wild swimmers! The town offers a variety of coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, in addition to independent stores selling artisan products and local specialities. Galashiels is officially Scotland\’s happiest place to live and comes second overall for Great Britain in this year\’s list put together by property portal Rightmove. Residents of the Borders town scored it particularly highly on the friendliness and politeness of the people!

There is free parking right by the store for the team and customers alike. The store is also situated right next to both the bus and train station making it simple for both staff and customers to access the store. The area is popular commuting route from Edinburgh as it is only a 52-minute direct train to Galashiels.

Requirements Of The Role

Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist with the drive, passion, and willingness to maintain the customer-focused culture and the high standards of this successful store. As the new Optometry Partner, you’ll be able to provide a unique blend of customer care and professional excellence. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the existing team, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an ability to build strong relationships within the local community.
