Overview
Specsavers Opticians – Penzance, Cornwall. Full Time Position – 39.5 hours per week to include Saturdays & Sundays. Join our friendly team as an Optical Assistant and you’ll discover why at Specsavers we pride ourselves on providing the very best in customer service. Optical expertise isn’t essential; you just need the desire to learn and the drive to progress – our training will do the rest. As an Optical Assistant you’ll ensure every customer gets a great experience when they visit our store. You’ll work to our high standards, giving clear advice with a polite and professional approach. We can teach you everything you need to know about vision problems, eyecare and our products, but you’ll need to be a natural when it comes to customer care – articulate, good with people and always happy to help.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to £23,561.40 per year
Additional pay: Bonus scheme, Commission pay

Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service in-store and contribute to a positive shopping experience.
- Assist customers with selecting eyewear and fitting lenses; explain features and benefits clearly.
- Learn about eye care products and services; support the Optometrist and optical team as needed.
- Maintain store standards, keep displays tidy, and ensure stock is well-presented.
- Take part in training to develop product knowledge and customer service skills.

- No prior optical experience required; motivation to learn and progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; confident in helping customers.
- Reliable, professional, and customer-focused with a positive attitude.
