The stores:
This partnership opportunity spans two complementary locations just 10 minutes from Oxford city centre. Cowley is a busy, well-established store with over 25 years of trading, based in a shopping centre and supported by a loyal, diverse customer base. Heyford Hill, located within Sainsbury’s around a mile away, benefits from free parking and a more affluent, private demographic. Both stores have been recently upgraded (Cowley in 2024 and Heyford Hill in 2025) and offer strong clinical environments. Together, they provide a high volume of clinics each week, supported by five test rooms in Cowley and two in Heyford Hill. The clinical offering includes OCT in both stores, alongside enhanced services such as Glaucoma, MECS, and post-cataract care. Cowley also operates as an audiology hub, supporting services across both sites and at Specsavers Wantage. On-site glazing and a call centre based in the Cowley store further enhance efficiency and allow teams to focus on delivering excellent patient care.
The team:
You’ll be joining a highly experienced and supportive team with a strong culture of development. Many colleagues have been supported to do Pathway, some of which have progressed to become partners of their own stores. Retention is excellent, with long service milestones of 5, 10 and 15 years recently celebrated. A well‑established leadership structure ensures smooth day‑to‑day operations, with high engagement and strong internal feedback across both stores.
The location:
Both stores benefit from excellent transport links, with nearby parking and easy access between sites. The area is thriving, with ongoing redevelopment in Cowley and a diverse customer base that includes students, professionals, and corporate clients. Major employers such as the BMW Mini plant and nearby science parks provide a steady and varied customer flow.
What You’ll Need:
You’ll be a GOC‑registered Optometrist with strong clinical expertise, commercial awareness, and a passion for developing people while delivering exceptional patient care. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a successful and growing business within a dynamic Oxford market.
