Specialty MGA is a multi‑line, global Lloyd’s of London MGA providing bespoke insurance and reinsurance solutions across a broad range of complex risks. Established in 2022 and headquartered in London, we operate with a growing international footprint and a commitment to disciplined underwriting, strong financial security, and long‑term partnerships.

About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Operations to lead the global operational function for our Specialty P&C MGA. Based in London, this role carries full end‑to‑end accountability for operations across our international offices and is supported by our offshore operations team within MNK’s Bangalore Global Capability Centre. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Head of Operations will oversee operational strategy, underwriting operations, technology and data, governance, and capacity provider relations. The role serves as the operational link between underwriting, finance, claims, credit control, compliance, and our capacity partners across Lloyd’s and company markets.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Set and execute the global operations strategy in alignment with the MGA’s growth plans.
    • Build, develop, and retain a high‑performing global operations team.
  • Global Operations & Operating Model
    • Oversee operational performance across the London hub and international offices.
    • Lead the relationship with our Bangalore GCC team, defining scope, SLAs, governance, and quality standards.
    • Standardise processes where appropriate while accommodating local regulatory and market requirements.
  • Underwriting Operations
    • Own the end‑to‑end policy lifecycle across all jurisdictions.
    • Establish underwriting workflows, controls, and authority structures aligned with binder terms.
    • Drive improvements in throughput, contract certainty, cash allocation, and operational quality.
  • Capacity Provider Relations & Bordereaux
    • Act as the senior operational point of contact for capacity providers.
    • Oversee the production, reconciliation, and timely submission of premium, claims, and risk bordereaux.
    • Lead operational input into audits, reviews, and renewal discussions.
  • Claims & Credit Control Oversight
    • Provide operational oversight across claims and credit control functions.
    • Ensure alignment with the broader operating model, controls framework, and capacity expectations.
    • Maintain consistent MI, controls, and audit standards across all operational areas.
  • Technology, Data & Transformation
    • Own the operational technology stack and enhancement roadmap.
    • Engage with Lloyd’s Blueprint II and wider market modernisation initiatives.
    • Drive automation and reduce manual processing across the onshore/offshore model.
    • Define and maintain global operational MI and KPIs.
  • Controls, Governance & Regulatory
    • Own the first‑line operational control framework across all jurisdictions.
    • Lead coverholder audits, capacity provider reviews, and regulatory examinations.
    • Support Finance on operational components of statutory audits.
