About The Role
We’re looking for a proactive, analytical, and commercially minded Lead Commercial Combined Underwriter to join our team in Witham. This role will focus on underwriting Commercial Combined risks, driving profitable growth, and strengthening broker partnerships across the SME and mid-market segments. You will take ownership of underwriting new business, renewals, and MTAs while ensuring consistency, technical accuracy, and outstanding broker service. This role offers the opportunity to influence underwriting strategy, support product development, and shape the performance of the Commercial Combined portfolio.
What you will be doing
- Underwriting Commercial Combined risks, including Property, Business Interruption, Liability, and associated cover extensions.
- Quoting and handling new business, renewals, and MTAs.
- Building and nurturing strong broker relationships.
- Negotiating terms, cover, and price.
- Conducting risk analysis using financial, claims, and survey information.
- Supporting cross-selling opportunities.
- Collaborating with Underwriting, Product, and IT teams.
- Assisting in mentoring junior underwriters.
- Monitoring market and competitor activity.
