Specialist Group are seeking an experienced Glass and Metal Operative to join our innovative team of crafts people in producing custom metal and glass items for the bespoke fit out market and where necessary, fitting these to joinery produced by our sister company. This role will also require the ability to weld, mainly stainless steel and aluminium. As one of the top bespoke commercial interior fit out companies, our clients demand excellence in quality and on time delivery. The successful candidate will precisely cut materials, following technical drawings and work orders ensuring quality and adhering strictly to safety protocols.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Use specialised tools to cut, bend and form metal into required shapes based on technical specifications
  • Secure metal parts together using techniques such as TIG welding, riveting or bolting
  • Interpret engineering drawings, and works orders to ensure accuracy in dimensions and tolerances
  • Regularly examine finished products using precision measuring instruments to verify they meet quality standards
  • Remove defects, smooth rough surfaces and polish completed workpieces
  • Maintain records of output and materials used
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines

Essential Skills:

  • Hands on experience with metal working equipment
  • TIG welding experience
  • Understanding of materials and their properties
  • Strong numerical skills for calculating dimensions and measuring workpieces accurately
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files and cutting lists
  • Strong attention to detail

Desirable Skills:

  • Manufacturing or production experience in a metal / wood working environment
