Job Purpose
The Production Operator is an integral part of the Mill Team who will contribute to output efficiencies whilst maintaining quality in a safe working environment using visual inspection and good housekeeping.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required
- Essential
- Secondary Educated
- Good communication skills
- Good grasp of Health & Safety requirements in an Operational environment
- General physical ability
- Meet general competency standards set by the company and comply with relevant ATOs
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site
- Ability to carry out routine inspection (e.g. daily report) as required
- Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role
- Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation
- Desirable
- Previous timber experience
Operative Levels are determined from the Skills Matrix below:
- Ability to perform the below complete Tasks without supervision
- Offer general support where required
- Work on the back of the saw
- Assist the Machinist
- Re-stack material when required
You will be required to:
- Safely provide support to qualified wood machinist/sawyer in operating designated machinery
- Undertake general tasks within the timber processing plant at the discretion of and under the direction of the mill supervisor
- Safely operate designated mechanical handling equipment and achieve targets in loading, unloading, storing and handling of goods as defined by the company
- Provide support to qualified wood machinist/sawyer in a safe and efficient manner
- Carry out designated tasks in a safe and timely manner
- Maintain and take responsibility for housekeeping in working area
- Meet targets set by the company in terms of timely and accurate loading/unloading of vehicles
- Operate mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Contribute to safe and efficient running of overall site
- Ensure all handling, loading and storage of goods is carried out and maintained in a safe manner
- Ensure routine checks are carried out in a timely and accurate manner
- Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner
