About Specialist Driver Resourcing Specialist Driver Resourcing (SDR) is a specialist recruitment company dedicated to the building materials, hire and logistics sectors. We work with national and independent builders merchants, specialist suppliers and leading logistics companies across the UK.
We are currently looking for an experienced FLT Counterbalance Driver with a background in builders merchants, tool hire, construction or a similar environment to join our growing team.
About the Role This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same.
Youll play an important part in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of our Tool Hire clients, combining driving, FLT operation, yard duties, equipment handling and customer service .
Some days you may be driving a 3.5-tonne van , carrying out deliveries and collections, while on other days you could be operating a Counterbalance FLT or assisting with general yard duties.
You may be required to travel to sites within a 50-mile radius using your own vehicle however mileage will be paid in line with the agreed arrangement.
Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Client Support Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, providing a professional and helpful service.
Provide customers with information and guidance on equipment where required.
Represent the client professionally when visiting customers and different sites.
Deliver excellent customer service throughout the hire, delivery and collection process.
Deliveries, Collections & Equipment Handling Safely load, unload, transport and deliver hire equipment.
Carry out equipment collections and returns efficiently and safely.
Operate a Counterbalance FLT safely and responsibly.
Carry out yard duties and assist with the general organisation of equipment.
Check equipment before and after hire and report any damage, defects or faults promptly.
Ensure equipment is handled, transported and stored correctly.
Health, Safety & Compliance Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
Follow all company procedures and relevant legislation.
Ensure equipment is handled and operated safely.
Keep up to date with relevant Tool Hire, FLT and health & safety requirements.
Complete daily and weekly vehicle checks and report any issues immediately.
Administration & Business Support Complete all relevant hire and delivery documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain accurate records relating to equipment, servicing, inspections and repairs.
Ensure paperwork and records are kept up to date.
What We're Looking For Were looking for someone who is reliable, professional and hands-on, with experience in a similar environment.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience working for a Tool Hire company, builders merchant or within the construction sector .
A valid Counterbalance FLT licence .
Experience operating an FLT in a busy yard or warehouse environment.
A good understanding of building materials, construction equipment or hire equipment.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Strong attention to detail.
A positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
A strong commitment to health and safety.
The ability to safely handle, load and transport equipment.
A full UK driving licence.
