Job Description
Desktop Engineer – 6 months Contract – £200/day Inside IR35 – Glasgow onsite – SCC FLEX CONTRACT
As a Desktop Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our Windows 11 deployment project, directly supporting users through the setup and transition process. Your expertise will ensure a seamless upgrade experience, and provide vital post-deployment support. This role requires hands-on involvement, effective user engagement, and close collaboration with the project team to drive successful technology adoption.
Your responsibilities as a Desktop Engineer:
- Guide end users step-by-step through Windows 11 setup, ensuring minimal disruption to their workflow.
- Provide hyper care support after deployment, troubleshooting and resolving user issues promptly.
- Install, configure, and pre-provision Windows 11 on devices, including rebuilding Windows 10 machines for recycling or repurposing.
- Manage asset tracking and device status updates following company and vendor procedures.
- Prepare devices for return to HP by removing BIOS passwords, delisting from Active Directory and SCCM, updating CMDB records, and ensuring proper packaging with accessories.
- Travel to various sites to support deployment activities and maintain strong user engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the project team to coordinate deployment schedules and escalate issues for swift resolution.
- Keep detailed records of deployment progress, device status, and user feedback to aid continuous improvement.
As a suitable Desktop Engineer, you will have:
- Solid experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, SCCM, and CMDB tools like Assyst.
- Strong communication skills to effectively assist users and work with project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple deployment sites and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
