Contract: Permanent (6-month probation period)
Salary and Benefits: £35,000 – £40,000 (prorated) per annum dependent on experience, 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, health cashback plan and EAP
Location: Hybrid working – SpecialEffect Office in Charlbury OX7 3EW, max. 2 days WFH per week (FTE) (after probation). Remote working would be considered for this role

SpecialEffect is an award-winning UK charity that exists to help people with severe physical challenges to get more out of life by giving them access to video games and technology. The Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser is an exciting role within the SpecialEffect Fundraising and Communications Team and is responsible for developing and maximising income through charitable trusts and foundations. The post holder will be responsible for implementing our trusts and foundations’ fundraising programme in line with our strategic plans and objectives, and will be responsible for researching, applying, and securing income from trusts and foundations. They will also be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships, and meeting reporting requirements.
The post requires drive, enthusiasm, autonomy, and simultaneous work across different projects. The ability to build relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders is essential.
What you’ll be doing:
- Helping to develop and implement a plan to grow trusts and foundations’ income and contribute to the overall fundraising strategy.
- Identify and research a diverse range of high-value prospects to build a robust pipeline of sustainable trusts and foundations.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through proactive research, outreach and networking.
- Craft high-quality, targeted, and compelling proposals tailored to specific trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies.
- Together with the leadership team, steward agreed Vice Presidents, Ambassadors, and other key stakeholders and develop a strategy and stewardship plan for these key supporters.
- Work with colleagues to help set, monitor and deliver against income targets, ensuring effective pipeline management and accurate forecasting.
What you’ll need:
- Proven track record in trust fundraising with successful bids from a range of funders and for a range of projects/services.
- Experience of producing communications for trusts and foundations, high value donors or equivalent.
- An understanding of funder requirements and motivations, particularly those who wish to form ongoing relationships and partnerships.
- Experience contributing to strategic planning and delivering against organisational goals.
- Strong research skills and the ability to innovate and spot new opportunities.
- A good understanding of the Code of Fundraising Practice.
- Passionate about the work and mission of SpecialEffect.
