Special Testing Ltd is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and is one of the leading steel testing laboratories in the country. We want to expand and strengthen our current great testing team with the appointment of a full‑time Trainee Mechanical Test Technician. You will have the chance to learn directly from experts, under supervision, how to conduct various tests such as tensile, impact and hardness using our state‑of‑the‑art equipment and record and report test results. For the right candidate there may also be the opportunity to train in other departments with the prospect of internal transfer for further development. Skills Required
- We are looking for a person with a keen interest in the STEM subjects.
- As a minimum, you will have good school results in maths and English and preferably Physics.
- The ideal candidate will be dependable and keen to learn new skills with a view to developing a career for themselves.
- When you have become familiar with the laboratory processes, we can support you with funded external education to help you achieve a recognised professional qualification.
This is a full‑time position working Monday to Friday, but with the opportunity for paid overtime as work demands. We have a great working environment, operating from a recently modernised facility.
