Job Description
Special Steels Ltd is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and is the largest independent heat treatment company in the country in terms of capacity and process range.\\nDue to increasing demand, we have a vacancy for a Heat Treatment Site Supervisor.\\nThe successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager, and will be respomsible for the day to day running of a busy heat treatment plant.\\nDay to day tasks and responsibilities\\n * Planning work and creating furnace work schedules.\\n * Perform day to day production tasks on Heat Manager system including booking up (Thermal Reviews). Printing off all relevant paperwork.\\n * Work with production planning manager to determine weekly shift patterns.\\n * Making sure that the following daily schedules care being executed to plan and on time and if not investigating and reporting why targets were not achieved.\\n * Furnace\\n * Straightening\\n * Hardness Testing\\n * Ensure all material is correctly identified pre and post heat treatment. Traceability must be maintained throughout all processes.\\n * Oversee the make-up of charges in accordance with procedures.
Ensure that where applicable load photos are taken uploaded and sent to the customer for approval as early as possible.\\n * Making sure that as many furnace loads are made up in advance as per the planning schedule and that completed loads are stripped down as soon as possible so grids are freed up to allow the cycle to continue.\\n * Making sure that all incoming materials are booked in and entered onto the system as quickly as possible.\\n * Making sure that all orders which are available to deliver are marked up correctly in advance and staged in the designated areas to ensure a safe and quick turnaround especially on transhipping.\\n * Before offloading of any material determine in advance if it is for your site. Ensure that only material for processing at YOUR SITE are unloaded at YOUR SITE and if in doubt ask before offloading.\\n * Checking that all employee sign off sheets are up to date and clearly and correctly filled out.\\n * Making sure that any breakdowns have been reported and that the relevant breakdown / repair forms are being filled out.\\n * Daily troubleshooting.\\n * Ensure an adequate supply of consumables are available – e.g. grids, bearer bars, marking paint,PPE, contact thermocouples etc by giving regular updates to Operations Manager who will order accordingly.\\nOverall, you will have a hands-on, can-do attitude and a sense of urgency to drive the daily operations of the site.\\nThis is an exciting role that offers progression.\\nPlease apply in writing with a full CV and covering letter to Sue Grayson, Group HR Officer, Special Steel Group, Bacon Lane, Sheffield, S9 3NH or by email
