The Special Steel Group of Companies is headquartered in Sheffield England, with additional operations in North America. The Group consists of 6 independent businesses covering multiple disciplines from Forging, Heat Treatment, Testing, Machining and global distribution of advanced nickel based alloys & special steels. Due to increasing demand, we have a vacancy for a Yard Person to join our busy site in Sheffield.
Overall purpose:
- Loading and unloading of materials
- Booking material in and out
- Dimensional inspections
- Creation of orders onto the system
- Generating the relevant paperwork
Principal accountabilities:
- To unload incoming material and store in a safe manner in accordance with procedure
- To check all incoming and outgoing material against customers documentation and resolve any discrepancies
- Maintain shipping documentation, manifests, and receipts; enter relevant data into the system as needed
- Preparing orders for despatch
- To print delivery notes and make sure that all details are filled out by drivers before release of goods
- To police and make sure that all sub-contract drivers entering the facilities comply to internal PPE requirements
- To maintain a good standard of housekeeping in the workplace
- To undertake any additional duties as required
- To work in accordance with all company H&S instructions at all times
Requirements:
- Must have a valid pendent crane and slinging license
