Role Description
The Distribution Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the distribution strategy for Speakit’s latest feature documentary, HERE I AM - a story about love, loss and liberation told through the lens of Elizabeth Gilbert (author: Eat, Pray, Love) and her former partner Rayya Elias as she confronts terminal Cancer to live and die on her own terms.
We’re looking for someone with a strong track record in independent distribution, excellent industry relationships and the drive to take full responsibility for the film’s journey to audiences.
This full-time remote role oversees the distribution process from strategy to release: festival submissions, sales agents and distributor outreach, deal negotiations, theatrical and streaming opportunities, publicity, partnerships, impact screenings, deliverables and rollout.
You’ll coordinate the team, manage timelines and budgets
The role includes creating distribution plans, tracking performance, preparing sales and marketing materials, and ensuring all deliverables meet technical and contractual specifications.
The Distribution Manager collaborates closely with production, marketing, and external partners to maximize audience reach, impact, and revenue across global markets.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in content distribution, rights management, or sales within film, TV, audio, or digital media.
- Strong skills in planning, project management, and coordination, with the ability to manage multiple releases and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with broadcasters, platforms, distributors, and partners.
- Comfort with contracts, licensing terms, and basic commercial negotiation in a media or entertainment context.
- Familiarity with international markets, release strategies, and audience development in documentary or socially driven content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear reporting and presentation abilities.
- High level of digital literacy, including experience with distribution platforms, asset management tools, and collaborative software.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, exercise sound judgment, and adapt in a dynamic, creative environment.
