Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Auckland-West
Job Category: Human Resouces & Recruitment
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Organisational Development and Learning Manager to develop and lead strategies, frameworks and programmes that strengthen our organisational capability, leadership effectiveness and employee engagement.
This is an influential leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about shaping a culture of continuous learning and improvement, ensuring our people and leaders have the capabilities they need to deliver SPCA’s strategic priorities and make a meaningful difference for animals across New Zealand.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll shape and lead our OD and learning approach, turning what our people and organisation need into practical initiatives that build great leaders and stronger capability, engagement and performance.
You’ll work closely with Leaders, People Experience and our front-line operational teams to understand our workforce and their priorities, while leading and supporting a collaborative Learning team.
What you’ll be doing -
- Design and deliver our OD and Learning strategy.
- Develop and lead initiatives that build a positive culture, engagement, inclusion and collaboration.
- Lead workforce planning, succession, talent mapping and leadership development.
- Oversee onboarding, compliance and capability programmes through our Learning Management System.
- Lead our performance cycle, supporting great conversations and clear goals.
- Develop career pathways, competency and capability frameworks that help people grow and progress.
- Make sure diversity, equity and inclusion are part of how we lead, learn and develop.
- Use data and employee feedback to understand what’s working, what’s needed and where we can do better.
- Support teams through organisational improvement and change.
ABOUT YOU
You’re an experienced OD and Learning Leader who can think strategically but also roll up your sleeves and get things done. You build trusted relationships, bring people with you and know how to turn organisational priorities into initiatives that make a real difference.
You’ll bring -
- OD and Learning experience - ideally across areas like leadership development, succession and workforce planning, culture and capability within a complex, multi-site organisation. You understand adult learning, instructional design, facilitation, blended learning and how to evaluate what works.
- Leadership experience – you have a track record of leading and developing teams and delivering outcomes. You’re comfortable working with leaders and stakeholders at all levels and bringing people together around shared goals.
- Learning technology experience - including managing or overseeing a Learning Management System, content, reporting, compliance learning, user experience and managing an external provider.
- A people-focused and inclusive approach - with experience designing initiatives that strengthen leadership, engagement, culture and performance. You understand the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion and know how to build inclusive practices into everyday people programmes.
- A curious, data-informed and practical mindset - with strong project management, consulting, communication and influencing skills. You can use data and insights to identify priorities and measure impact, manage multiple projects and stakeholders, and explore how AI and emerging technology can improve learning, decision-making and organisational effectiveness.
This is not your first OD role, you have done this before, you know what works. You have developed strategy, frameworks and programmes in a complex environment before. You enjoy getting under the hood of an organisation, working with a diverse workforce, with diverse drivers.
What’s on offer
You’ll join a passionate, values-driven team where your experience and insight has an impact every day.
The role offers -
- The opportunity to help shape SPCA’s culture, engagement and performance.
- Free on-site parking.
