At SPCA, we are passionate about providing care and support to animals in need. We are currently seeking a dedicated Animal Attendant to join our team in Auckland, Mangere. ABOUT THE TEAM
Our Centres are working hard rescuing, caring for and rehoming animals in need. They are the face of the SPCA in their communities, working to create real and sustainable change for the wellbeing of animals. The Centres are run by a bunch of passionate people, from Centre Managers to Animal Attendants, who prioritise animal welfare and community connection.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, part-time Animal Attendant to join our Animal Services team in Mangere to work 32 hours per week (4 days), on a rotating roster. In this role you get to see the best and the worst. It is a rewarding, fulfilling, and essential role, as well as demanding, heartbreaking and physical. It takes a special kind of person to do this role but what you get back can really fill your cup. You will be their human and ensure that all animals in the centre are cared for appropriately and our adoption avenues are being used to their fullest. Making sure our animal database is updated and accurate and assisting with all routine veterinary visits. You will coordinate and work with our teams and volunteers to improve animal pathways through the centre. You will handle enquiries regarding adoption at the centre in person, via phone or website. You will monitor animal health, behaviour and administer medication. You will enhance opportunities for socialisation, enrichment and behaviour modification for the animals in the shelter and you will work with other departments to ensure the animal areas are functioning well and goals are being achieved.
