SPAW Engineering Ltd is a precision engineering manufacturer supplying components to major European Turbocharger Manufacturers. Due to continued growth within the business, we are looking to recruit TIG Welders / Production Assembly Operatives to join our Welding & Assembly Team.
We are looking for reliable, skilled welders who take pride in their work and want to become an important part of a busy, quality-focused production environment.
The Role
- Hours: Full-time various shift patterns available
- Contract: Temporary initially, with the opportunity to become permanent following a successful probationary period
- Pay: £13.58 - £16.81 per hour, depending on experience and shift
We operate a 24/7 production environment across multiple shifts, so opportunities are available across our day, afternoon/evening and night shifts. You will be responsible for TIG welding and assembling a range of precision turbocharger components using dedicated jigs, fixtures and welding equipment.
The role requires someone who can consistently produce work to the required quality, output and customer standards, while maintaining a safe, clean and organised working area.
Key Responsibilities
- TIG weld components accurately and consistently to customer and company specifications.
- Assemble turbocharger components using a range of jigs, fixtures and production equipment.
- Carry out associated assembly operations including:
- Pressure testing
- Pillar drilling
- Manual press operations
- Deburring and general finishing
- Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions and quality requirements.
- Complete production and quality records accurately.
- Monitor the quality of your own work and immediately report any defects, equipment problems or process issues.
- Achieve the required production output while maintaining the required quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, jigs and fixtures in good working condition.
- Keep the welding and assembly area clean, tidy and organised in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
- Wear the required PPE and follow all company Health & Safety procedures.
- Support supervisors and colleagues in achieving daily production requirements.
- Assist with new product introduction and the development and improvement of existing production methods.
- Undertake other reasonable production duties within the department as required.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Previous TIG welding experience.
- Experience working within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to consistently produce good-quality work.
- Good attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions, work procedures and quality requirements.
- Ability to work as part of a team while also working independently when required.
- Good attitude towards housekeeping, Health & Safety and maintaining workplace standards.
Desirable:
- Experience of welding stainless steel or cast components.
- Previous experience in automotive or precision engineering.
- Experience using welding jigs and fixtures.
- Experience with pressure testing, drilling, pressing or other assembly operations.
- Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings or work instructions.

Full training will be provided on our specific products, processes and equipment where required; however, previous TIG welding experience is essential.
