Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Ambulance-Clinical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing clinical standards, education, and quality initiatives within the Mass General Brigham Ambulance Services. This role involves acting as a clinical liaison with hospitals, clinicians, and healthcare entities, ensuring all providers maintain necessary certifications and comply with protocols for ALS, BLS, and Chair Car programs. The manager develops educational and oversight programs, utilizes educational technologies, and manages employee orientation and training. They coordinate quality assurance activities, coach staff, and ensure adherence to medical protocols and safety standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use the Mass General Brigham values to guide decisions and behaviours, emphasising patient care, affordability, accountability, service, diversity, integrity, learning, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Develop and coordinate an annual education plan for ALS, BLS, and Chair Car providers, including competency training for high-risk procedures.
  • Implement and revise a comprehensive department orientation program for new staff.
  • Establish and maintain a quality assurance program through case reviews and feedback.
  • Communicate regularly with staff regarding clinical performance and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of adult learning, quality improvement, and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with leadership on business operations and strategic planning.
  • Participate in the Ambulance Services Administrator on Call program.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Current MA Paramedic certification or National Registry Paramedic certification (must obtain MA certification within one year).
  • Five years EMS experience as a Paramedic; critical care or interfacility transport experience preferred.
  • Three years EMS instructor experience, including clinical precepting; project management experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license meeting department requirements.
  • Massachusetts EMS Instructor/Coordinator certification preferred or must complete within one year.
  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications preferred; must obtain within one year if not current.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, and manipulation tasks.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and pushing/pulling.
  • Constant vision, hearing, talking, and feeling; occasional foot use.
