You’ll be part of a professional team working across a wide range of projects—commercial, residential, heritage and public sector—and will have opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career within a forward-thinking company.
This is a physically active, site-based role that involves lifting manhole covers and being on your feet throughout the day. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, including occasional night and weekend work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will lead and deliver high-quality utility mapping surveys in accordance withPAS 128, usingGPR, EML, and visual inspection techniques, and contribute to the production of accurate deliverables including CAD drawings and reports.
You’ll need excellent communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and site teams, and a strong commitment to health, safety and quality. The ability to follow procedures, solve problems, and manage your own workload will be essential to success in this role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
●Lead and deliver utility surveys in accordance with PAS 128 and industry best practices.
●Manage and coordinate all aspects of utility detection, mapping and data collection across varied project sites.
●Conduct Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic Location (EML) surveys, and visual inspections to identify and trace buried services.
●Oversee quality assurance and quality control checks on all utility survey outputs.
●Interpret utility data and produce detailed CAD drawings, reports and survey deliverables to a high standard.
●Liaise with clients, contractors, and site teams to understand requirements, resolve issues, and deliver project outcomes.
●Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior surveyors and field staff.
●Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance during all on-site activities.
●Assist with project planning, resourcing, and scheduling of utility survey works.
●Maintain accurate project records and ensure timely submission of deliverables.
●Contribute to continuous improvement in surveying methodology, technologies and service delivery.
●Stay up to date with relevant legislation, industry standards, and technological advancements.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
● 6 + years’ experience delivery Utility surveys
●Understanding hazards and be capable of communicating and managing health & safety risks whilst on site
●Work without direct day-to-day supervision and make technical decisions for projects assigned, within specified limits of authority
●Demonstrable experience working as part of a team of surveyors on specific projects
●Experience with operating and interpreting digital outputs including Ground Penetrating Radar and Electromagnetic Locators
●Experience with Survey modelling software
●Understand and work to detailed specifications and standards such as PAS128.
●Experience of planning daily activities considering possible multiple projects to meet productivity goals set by Project Manager
●Maintain awareness and develop skills in new and emerging technologies
●Experience in understanding CAD drawings
●Have a full clean UK driving license
●Punctual and able to manage your own time
●Would be beneficial to be able to carry out CCTV surveys of drainage systems, assess pipe conditions and analyse results. Knowledge of Wincam or other CCTV software desirable.
●Would be beneficial to have experience with GPS and total stations
●Would be beneficial to have knowledge of N4ce or other survey software
