Spartan Mechanical Ltd is a growing mechanical services contractor specialising in commercial plumbing, heating, HVAC, gas and renewable technologies.

Working predominantly across London and the Home Counties, we deliver planned maintenance, reactive works and mechanical projects for NHS Trusts, commercial buildings, educational establishments, property managers and leading FM providers.

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Plumbing, Heating & Gas Engineer to join our team.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on role working across a wide range of commercial sites.

You’ll be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing, installations and small projects, while maintaining the high standards our clients have come to expect.

You’ll also support and mentor junior engineers and apprentices, providing technical guidance and helping maintain excellent workmanship across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
  • Service, diagnose and repair commercial heating and gas systems.
  • Fault find on commercial plumbing, heating and HVAC systems.
  • Install and commission mechanical plant and associated pipework.
  • Complete gas safety inspections and certification.
  • Carry out minor mechanical installation projects.
  • Produce accurate digital job reports, photographs and certification.
  • Liaise professionally with clients and site representatives.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and apprentices.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota when required.

About You

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys solving technical problems.

You should have

  • A strong background in commercial plumbing, heating and gas engineering.
  • Extensive fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
  • Experience working on commercial plant rooms and heating systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive and professional attitude.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Current Commercial Gas ACS qualifications.
  • Current F-Gas qualifications
  • Relevant plumbing and heating qualifications.
  • OFTEC.
  • Unvented Hot Water.
  • Water Hygiene / Legionella experience.
  • IPAF.
  • PASMA.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS.
  • Experience working within NHS, healthcare, education or commercial facilities.
