Sparta Global are hiring an Automation Test Lead to take ownership of building an automated testing capability from the ground up. This is not a maintenance role. You will design, implement, and scale a robust test automation framework, while leading the transition from manual to automated testing across the business. You need to operate at an architect level but still be hands-on in delivery.
Please note, this is a 6-month Fixed-Term-Contract, offering full-remote working with 1 day per month on-site in Central Manchester.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement a scalable automated test framework from scratch using C#/.NET
- Define automation strategy, tooling, and best practices across the organisation
- Build and maintain automated test suites for web applications
- Work closely with engineering teams to integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Introduce and embed Cypress for front-end testing where appropriate
- Assess current manual testing processes and drive the transition to automation
- Train and mentor QA and engineering teams on automation tools and approaches
- Establish quality standards, reporting, and governance for testing
- Proven experience building an automation framework from scratch, not just contributing to one
- Strong hands-on development experience with C# and .NET
- Experience operating at a Test Automation Architect or Lead level
- Solid experience with Cypress for UI testing
- Strong understanding of test strategy, frameworks, and design patterns
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to coach and upskill teams moving from manual to automated testing
