Sparta Global are hiring a Test Engineer to join a growing platform team, working across both manual and automated testing. This is an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, requiring 3 days per week onsite in Hove.

Overview: This is a hands-on role with a clear shift towards Java-based automation, offering strong progression opportunities as the team scales. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of platform upgrades, working within Agile delivery cycles to build and maintain effective test coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute and maintain both manual and automated test cases
  • Contribute to the development of Java-based test automation frameworks
  • Support testing for platform upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption and high quality releases
  • Work closely with developers, product teams and other QA engineers within Agile sprint cycles
  • Identify defects, track issues and support resolution through to completion
  • Continuously improve QA processes, tooling and test coverage

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in both manual and automation testing
  • Strong interest or experience in Java-based test automation
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery environments
  • Experience testing APIs using tools such as Postman or SoapUI
  • Experience using IDEs such as IntelliJ
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Sonata testing tools
  • Experience contributing to or building automation frameworks
  • Exposure to platform or system upgrade testing
