Sparta Global are hiring a Platform Engineering Lead to build and lead a true platform engineering capability that underpins all cloud-native, SaaS, low-code, and custom development across the UK estate. This role will be hired to be deployed into a world-leading insurance provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, deployment, and operation of Azure platform services, including pipelines, environments, messaging infrastructure, and core cloud services.
- Define and implement modern CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code standards across a hybrid landscape (Power Platform, Dynamics, Salesforce integrations, custom services).
- Lead the move from traditional IT Ops and ticket-based workflows to product-oriented DevOps and platform ownership.
- Establish secure, scalable deployment patterns that support frequent change, experimentation, and AI/agent-based services.
- Enable and govern data access patterns, including Fabric and semantic layers, with a strong focus on security, compliance, and operational insight.
- Provide cloud financial management (capacity, forecasting, optimisation) expertise in partnership with finance and leadership teams.
- Act as a senior technical mentor to engineers transitioning from legacy ops, waterfall delivery, or partial DevOps models.
- Collaborate closely with automation and Salesforce leads to ensure consistent tooling, patterns, and ways of working across all three teams.
- Support team mobilisation activities, working with agile coaches and leadership to embed sustainable delivery models.
