Use your long‑form writing skills to create clear, supportive guides for our online Spaniel Resources Hub. You’ll be supported by our behaviourists and canine professionals, helping you craft content that owners can trust, empowers them, and improves dog welfare across the UK.
Your long‑form content will play a vital role in shaping SRF’s new online Resources Hub—a core part of our mission to prevent dogs from reaching crisis point. By creating clear, evidence‑based guides, you’ll help us become a trusted centre of excellence for spaniel welfare, giving owners access to reliable, positive‑reinforcement information they can genuinely depend on. This work directly strengthens our ability to support dogs across the UK. Every guide you write helps owners understand their dog’s needs, make informed decisions, and feel confident in managing behaviour and welfare challenges. That means fewer dogs being surrendered, fewer preventable crises, and more families staying together.
Your contribution will also help define how we present ourselves to the public, partners and supporters. High‑quality, compassionate content elevates our credibility, reinforces our welfare‑first values, and ensures our website reflects the professionalism and care at the heart of SRF. By collaborating with our behaviourists, canine professionals and Head of Copy, you’ll be part of a small, dedicated team building something meaningful and lasting. Your work won’t just sit on a website — it will actively improve dog welfare, empower owners, and support the long‑term sustainability of our charity.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys crafting thoughtful, long‑form content and can translate information into clear, supportive guidance for a wide audience. The ideal volunteer is a confident writer with an eye for detail, a collaborative approach, and a genuine interest in animal welfare. You don’t need any specialist canine knowledge—you’ll be supported throughout by our behaviourists, canine professionals and Head of Copy. What matters most is your ability to research topics, shape information clearly, and write with warmth and accuracy.
Essential Qualities And Experience
- Proven copywriting experience, ideally including long‑form content
- Ability to write clearly for different audiences and levels of understanding
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- Comfortable working to briefs, feedback and deadlines
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and supporting owners
Desirable (but Not Essential) Qualities And Experience
- Background in educational, guidance‑based or awareness‑raising content (particularly valuable)
- SEO knowledge and confidence using basic analytics tools
- Familiarity with the sensitivities and tone required in charity communications
- Experience with dog rescue or animal welfare (useful but absolutely not expected)
We’re looking for someone who is thoughtful, reliable and happy to work collaboratively as part of a small, supportive team. If you love writing meaningful content and want to use your skills to help dogs and the people who care for them, you’ll be a great fit.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a skilled long‑form content writer to help us build our new online Resources Hub—a growing library of clear, supportive guides designed to help spaniel owners navigate behaviour, training, health and welfare with confidence. Spaniel Rescue Foundation supports dogs in crisis across the UK, and one of the most effective ways we can prevent those crises is by giving owners access to reliable, compassionate information. Our aim is to develop the hub into a centre of excellence for spaniel welfare—a trusted, evidence‑based resource grounded in positive‑reinforcement principles and the latest behavioural research. Your writing will play a key role in shaping this vision and ensuring owners can rely on what they read.
In this role, you’ll research and write long‑form articles and guides on a range of topics related to spaniel care. You don’t need to be a canine expert—you’ll be supported throughout by our team of behaviourists and canine professionals, who will guide the content, ensure accuracy and help you translate complex ideas into clear, accessible information. You’ll also work closely with our Head of Copy, who will support you through the editing and refinement process to ensure everything aligns with our warm, reassuring tone of voice.
Key responsibilities include
- Researching and writing long‑form blog content and guides
- Liaising with our behavioural experts to review and refine copy
- Creating content that reflects SRF’s tone, values and welfare‑first approach
- Ensuring content is evidence‑based and aligned with positive‑reinforcement principles
- Working collaboratively with our Head of Copy during editing and development
This is a fully remote role, and you’ll be joining a friendly, supportive team who care deeply about improving dog welfare and empowering owners. Your work will directly contribute to reducing relinquishment, improving understanding, and helping more spaniels stay safely in loving homes. If you enjoy crafting thoughtful, educational content and want to use your skills to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you.
