Overview

Role: Optometrist at our Mobile Diagnostic and Treatment Centre

Location: This role will be split between Glasgow and Perth. The role covers multiple locations across Scotland, spending an estimated 5 to 15 days at each location before supporting the next location. Subject to change depending on uptake/demand in services.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.

Salary: £55,000 – £69,000

About The Role

As an Optometrist, you will:

  • Perform pre and post operative assessments for cataract surgery patients.
  • Conduct pre op assessments for YAG laser capsulotomy referrals.
  • Obtain informed consent in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Participate in the on call and weekend rota as needed.
  • Ensure your clinical area is ready, with equipment checked before and after clinics.
  • Complete basic life support and manual handling training.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in the day to day operations of the clinic.

What We Are Looking For

  • A qualified optometrist with current GOC registration.
  • People that are passionate about learning and have developed themselves with higher qualifications.
  • Previous hospital optometry experience is a plus, but not essential; we provide full training.

Reporting to the designated Lead Optometrist(s), you will work in SpaMedica or Freedom Vision clinics as part of a multi-disciplinary team performing pre and post assessment of patients undergoing cataract surgery. With further training you will also undertake YAG laser capsulotomy treatments for posterior capsular opacification (PCO), and manage minor complications. This role requires regular travel across the region to provide clinical cover and maintain personal clinical skills by actively participating within the service.
