Spalding DeDecker is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join our growing Landscape Design Team. In this position, the Senior Landscape Architect leads their own landscape architecture projects. The ideal team member will be able to participate in all aspects of work such as proposal writing, developing fees, creating project schedules, and performing other tasks related to proposal submission; and design, rendering, construction documentation and specifications, creating opinions of probable costs, grant writing, planning reports, permitting, site plan approvals, bidding, construction administration, and other project aspects like overseeing project schedules, managing project work tasks, organizing their own work load, and delegating to other staff. This person will also be comfortable with and capable of coordinating and interacting with clients, other consultants, contractors, suppliers, manufacturers, and other people involved with our projects.
Experience should be in the field of landscape architecture or related disciplines including but not limited to, landscape architecture, planning, horticulture, environmental and sustainable principles, and other related disciplines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program.
- Licensed in Michigan, or able to get a reciprocal license.
- Work experience in landscape architecture and/or related fields.
- Proficiency in: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- 10+ years of experience within the Landscape Architecture field.
- Working knowledge of landscape and native plants in the Midwest region.
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Orientation toward teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to manage a variety of tasks on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to creatively solve problems, persistently complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound business judgment.
Typical Duties:
- Collaborate with staff on the design packages for projects such as park master planning and development, healthcare facilities, regional trails, urban plazas, residential developments, large commercial centers, and corporate campuses.
- Analyze data on conditions such as site location, drainage, or structure location for environmental reports or landscaping plans.
- Prepare plans using CAD software.
- Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs.
- Prepare landscape plans, site plans, hardscape details, construction drawings and specifications, site analysis, and presentation graphics.
- Coordinate the preparation of project drawings, exhibits, and calculations with other engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Communicate with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate to the project.
- Manage time effectively, organize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously in order to meet project deadlines and client needs.
