Silver Bridge School, a special school for pupils aged 6 to 19 years, is expanding to a second campus. We are seeking a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safeguarding strategy and child protection policy across the school.
  • Participate in Senior Leadership Team strategy discussions and inter‑agency meetings.
  • Contribute to the assessment of children and develop a culture of safeguarding embedded in the curriculum.
  • Advise and support staff on child welfare and child protection matters.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority, police and other statutory bodies.

Working Hours

40 hours per week, term time only, plus two weeks within the school holiday period as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Relevant safeguarding and child protection experience in a school setting.
  • Willingness to undertake safeguarding checks including Disclosure & Barring Service checks and employment references.
  • Experience in working with children and young people considered at risk.
  • Understanding of the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as they apply to safeguarding roles.
