Preston Bridge School is an independent special school for pupils aged 6 – 19, situated across two campuses both within Paignton town centre. The school supports students who have barriers to learning to access education in a meaningful and progressive way.

As our school continues to grow and flourish we are introducing new roles. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as a Digital Media Practitioner.

Our creative, individualised approach to learning is centred around well-being and skills for independence. From the time our students arrive, we assess their individual interests, passions and desires to build a project-based curriculum to meet their needs. In so doing, we ensure they are well prepared to achieve their goals and succeed.

Our practitioners work with our students as industry professionals, who deliver creative and active learning experiences to support the development of specialist skills and qualifications.

As the Practitioner for Digital Media you will work with colleagues to plan and deliver projects that meet students' needs, offering them a broad range of opportunities and experiences within your area of expertise. We welcome applications from professionals who have a diverse range of specialisms and expertise which may include:

  • Video
  • Animation
  • Games
  • Photography
  • Interactive media & design
  • Creating fabric prints
  • Fabric collages
  • Wearable art using innovative techniques
  • Creating sustainable & educational projects

You must be able to build effective and supportive relationships with our students, which encourage their engagement and development of self-confidence and enjoyment.

Applicants for Practitioner posts must hold relevant qualifications in their area of expertise (equivalent to level 3 - 5). Being a qualified teacher is not a requirement; however, experience of teaching or working within a relevant setting would be an advantage. Candidates must be able to demonstrate expertise across a wide range of relevant software, technologies and the use of sustainable resources for projects.

Candidates must have experience within their industry and have a desire to teach. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate vocational experience as well as having excellent administrative and organisational abilities in order to perform the role successfully.

Candidates will be supported with a role-specific induction and there are excellent opportunities for personal development, including support to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

We understand the importance of building meaningful relationships with students and families to nurture growth and development of relational milestones such as building trust and sharing enjoyment. Care and making connections are at the heart of our ethos and we work hard to ensure that all staff feel cared for too.

The well-being of our staff is an important priority; therefore we provide opportunities to ensure we value their hard work and dedication and promote a healthy work-life balance. We are constantly reviewing our practices to ensure that our staff can focus on what matters: providing a rich environment in which children and young adults can learn and thrive.

We recognise that our schools all serve their own communities and are unique, but we also insist that our schools follow Spaghetti Bridge ways of working which ensure that there are high expectations and equality of opportunity for all our pupils.

Early application is encouraged; we may seek to appoint prior to the closing date.
