Ground Segment DevOps Engineer Contract, remote Outside IR35
The Core Challenge
You will be the architect of our client's CI/CD toolchain and container-based environments. This isn’t a standard cloud-ops role; you are building the Mission Support System (MSS)—the infrastructure that ensures space flight software and ground services are deployed seamlessly and monitored with zero margin for error.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Orchestration: Manage and evolve our container-based stack (Docker, amongst other lesser-known tech - upskilling time available for the other stack) to support mission-critical Ground Segment services.
- Pipeline Ownership: Expand our client’s CI/CD workflows to automate the build, test, and deployment of live operational products.
- Mission Support: Design and implement centralized logging, monitoring (Grafana), and system lifecycle orchestration for active missions - terraform also a nice to have.
- Deployment Strategy: Define versioning and rollback protocols that ensure continuous availability during high-stakes orbital phases.
Your Heritage
- Container Expertise: Proven track record with Docker-based environments and registry management.
- DevOps Mastery: Hands-on experience building robust pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
- Linux Fundamentals: Deep understanding of Linux environments, shell scripting, and systems automation.
- Mission Awareness (Bonus): Familiarity with satellite ground systems or SQL/NoSQL database administration is highly desirable.
