An exciting opportunity has arisen at Durham Music Service for an Instrument Repair and Maintenance Technician (Grade 6) on a 0.2 FTE permanent contract.

We are looking for an experienced, organised, and enthusiastic individual with proven instrument repair and maintenance experience.

Working hours and days will be agreed with the successful candidate to meet service needs, with some flexibility available.

The role will be primarily based at Ushaw Historic House. However, the successful candidate must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle, or be able to demonstrate an alternative means of travelling with equipment, as occasional visits to educational settings across County Durham and Darlington will be required to inspect instruments.

WHAT IS INVOLVED

The service focuses on ensuring instruments are maintained in good, playable condition appropriate to their intended educational use. Repairs are prioritised to maximise the lifespan and functionality of instruments within available resources, rather than restoring every instrument to a professional performance standard.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

• Qualifications in musical instrument repair or a related field.Further information is available from Durham Music Service.
