Role Overview
Reporting to the COO, the Operations Delivery Manager will work directly with the COO and across the organisation to establish, operate, and continuously improve the company’s operational delivery approach as the business scales. Operating with a high degree of autonomy across a flat matrix structure, the Operations Delivery Manager will establish and drive a simple, effective delivery approach that integrates the activities of a distributed international workforce and supplier base across bids, operations, projects, services, and R&D. The role focuses on aligning delivery capacity, materials, suppliers, quality requirements, and operational constraints to ensure that delivery commitments are achievable, monitored, communicated, consistently met, and kept aligned with operational reality. Where appropriate, proactive use of the latest AI tool technology will be supported by the in-house AI team. Success is measured by increased execution capacity, improved predictability, clear alignment of priorities and assignments, stronger linkage between commitments and delivery, and fewer delivery issues caused by misalignment between plans and capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a clear planning and delivery cadence across all activities.
- Provide visibility of capacity, commitments, and forward demand.
- Align delivery plans with available technical and operational capacity, supplier and material constraints, and quality and compliance requirements.
- Support bids and forward planning with realistic projections of delivery capability.
- Ensure commitments are balanced against delivery capacity.
- Integrate procurement, suppliers, and materials into delivery planning.
- Surface and resolve operational dependencies, resource conflicts, prioritisation challenges, and delivery constraints, in conjunction with functional and project leads.
- Drive prioritisation across projects and services to ensure optimal use of capacity in conjunction with functional and project leads.
- Clearly communicate priorities, ownership, expected outputs, risks, issues, and trade-offs.
Essential Skills and Experience
This is a practical, execution-focused role suited to someone who is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, creating clarity from complexity, and improving how work flows across an organisation.
- Proven experience in operations delivery, technical programme management, operational coordination, or delivery planning in a technical or complex environment.
- Ability to establish, operate, and continuously improve simple, effective operating rhythms that give clear visibility of priorities, capacity, demand, ownership, and progress.
- Experience creating practical delivery processes from the ground up in matrix environments where ways of working are still maturing.
- Strong balance delivery commitments against available people, technical capacity, supplier, material, and quality constraints.
- Experience coordinating technical workstreams, engineering teams, and external suppliers.
- Ability to create clarity from ambiguity and turn fast-moving operational activity into practical, achievable delivery plans.
- Strong cross-functional working skills, including influencing, aligning, and coordinating teams without relying on formal authority.
- Clear communication skills, including defining priorities, ownership, expected outputs, risks, issues, and trade-offs.
- Experience managing dependencies, risks, and trade-offs across concurrent workstreams or programmes.
- Accomplished at using planning, reporting, workflow, data, and AI-enabled tools to improve visibility, coordination, predictability, and delivery confidence.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in the space, satellite, aerospace, defence, remote sensing, or space domain awareness sectors.
- Familiarity with quality, compliance, assurance, or mission-critical operational environments.
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, operations, business, supply chain, aerospace, science, technology, or a related discipline.
- Professional training or certification in operations management, supply chain, Lean, continuous improvement, business process improvement, quality, assurance, or a related area.
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC) or above.
Other Requirements
- Able to commute to London on an agreed basis, anticipated to be weekly, with occasional additional travel for project or customer needs.
- Able to travel within the UK and internationally as reasonably required.
- Able to maintain access to a reliable broadband connection.
