An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join Laverstock Ward, a 24-bedded general medicine ward specialising in Respiratory Medicine. The ward cares for patients on non-invasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen treatment and tracheostomy. The team is seeking an innovative, highly motivated nurse with strong communication skills to manage a busy unit and provide clinical leadership and supervision to staff.

Responsibilities

  • Patient care: Take overall responsibility for all patients on the ward, ensuring appropriate assessment, management plans are in place, and delivery of compassionate, high-quality care. Regularly take charge of the ward and supervise others, evaluating the care provided.
  • Information resources: Document care, supervise documentation by others, and ensure patient records are accurate in accordance with NMC standards for record keeping.
  • Human Resources: As an NMC registrant, develop yourself, support, mentor, supervise and teach junior staff, nursing assistants, pre- and post-registration students, newly qualified nurses and newly appointed staff. Seek feedback, contribute to appraisals, provide constructive feedback, and keep staff records up to date. Develop an understanding of HR processes to manage performance of the team.

Act within the NMC guidelines, maintaining safe, patient-centred working.
