Have you considered nursing in Outpatients as a Healthcare Assistant? If yes, we have a full time vacant position that may give you the opportunity to develop new skills and support your work/life balance. The Main Outpatient Team would welcome applications from a Healthcare Assistant who enjoys working independently and within a team, in being instrumental in providing patient focused care. The role is located in our main outpatient department as well as supporting consultant led activity in the Breast Care Unit and Clarendon Suite where we support elderly medicine clinics.
The successful candidate will join a well-established team and will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good team player with the ability to work well on their own initiative as well as willing to take on a variety of duties whilst having the ability to maintain attention to detail. We ask that the candidate applying for this post have a current NHS Care Certificate and a Health and Social Care Qualification at Level 3 with current secondary care experience. We strongly suggest you arrange an informal visit to meet the team and gain a full understanding of the role. Unfortunately, we cannot accept those who need sponsorship.
Main duties of the job:
- The ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Multidisciplinary Team
- Supporting and assisting your consultant colleagues in the smooth running of their clinics.
- Acting as a chaperone.
- Being able to undertake baseline measurements; BMI, blood pressures, blood sugar monitoring, ECGs, Urinalysis and after training spirometry, FeNO, venepuncture and/or cannulation.
If you do not already possess all required skills, additional training will be given to support you in this role but this may initially be at a Band 2 until all Band 3 competencies have been achieved.

Person Specification:
Essential Experience:
- Good communication skills, able to communicate respectfully verbally and in writing.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Significant experience in a Healthcare setting as a Healthcare Assistant.
- Recording ECGs.
- Undertake Venepuncture and Cannulation.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience within link role for specialist area - eg falls, infection control etc.
- Supporting new starters, including inducting them to the clinical environment, supporting with competency and care certificate completion.
Essential Qualifications:
