This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Salisbury Hospice and Specialist Palliative Care Community CNS Team as a Band 6 nurse. The role is full time and involves providing expert symptom control advice and psychological support to patients in a geographical area linked to GP practices. You will be based at Salisbury Hospice and travel into the community setting; access to transport is essential. We have strong links with external professional colleagues and regularly attend GSF and MDT meetings.

Main Duties

  • Ensure high quality palliative care is delivered to patients and their families.
  • Work independently and as part of the Salisbury Hospice and Specialist Palliative Care Service with external health care teams.
  • Provide symptom control, social, emotional, psychological and spiritual care.
  • Offer advice, support and education to primary health care teams, community and hospital staff.
  • Participate in quality initiatives within the department.
  • Deliver formal and informal teaching.

Person Specification

Essential

  • NMC active PIN number / Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent study/course
  • Hospice or palliative/end‑of‑life care experience
  • Evidence of working in a team
  • Evidence of working independently
  • Relevant study/course experience

Desirable

  • Experience in a Specialist Palliative Care area
  • Experience in community setting
  • Advanced Communication Skills course or similar
  • Skills in specialist palliative care symptom management
  • Relevant qualification in specialist palliative care (e.g. ENB, Degree, MSc)
  • Evidence of teaching and/or teaching qualification
  • Interest in non‑medical prescribing
