Part‑time Specialist Children’s Physiotherapist – secondment to cover maternity leave – delivering physiotherapy services to children and young people in outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. Flexible schedule – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (Thursday essential), 18.75 hrs/week, no weekend work.

Key Duties

  • Deliver high‑quality physiotherapy to children and young people in outpatient and inpatient settings, specialising in musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Manage a personal caseload while supporting wider paediatric and newborn ward needs.
  • Participate in specialist multidisciplinary clinics (DDH, orthotic, respiratory, rheumatology, neonatal).
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Band 5 physiotherapists, therapy assistants and student physiotherapists.
  • Collaborate with other professionals across child health services to continually improve physiotherapy service delivery.
  • Work in partnership with children and families to help them manage their health and wellbeing.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy and current HCPC registration.
  • Post‑graduate CPD training in paediatric physiotherapy (1 mark per area).
  • Children’s physiotherapy practice (Band 5/6) in musculoskeletal, neurological/developmental or respiratory specialties.

Desirable

  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient paediatric physiotherapy (1 point each).
  • Teaching experience to CYP, families, physiotherapists and MDT.
  • Supervision of students, B5 physiotherapists or assistants.
  • Audit or quality‑improvement project evidence; effective teamworking.
  • Leadership course completion and implementation within physiotherapy.
