Job Summary
The dietetics department at Salisbury hospital are looking for a newly graduated dietitian or an experienced band 5 who wishes to get more clinical experience in a busy district general hospital. Our small but friendly team have an excellent reputation throughout the hospital and are highly respected by our clinical teams.
We would welcome dietitians who are due to graduate this year and can support employment prior to HCPC registration. We have an established preceptorship programme to support new graduates and are committed to continue to support further education and development.
Salisbury Hospital rates nutrition highly and boasts specialist services in Burns, Plastics, Spinal Injuries and trauma rehabilitation. We have a forward thinking and innovative nutrition support team whose experienced dietitians carry out a number of extended roles, including assisting the GI team to put in gastrostomy tubes. The post holder will be provided with opportunities to develop enteral feeding tube care skills.

Main duties of the job
The role will mainly involve provision of acute inpatient dietetic support to the inpatient wards in Salisbury District Hospital, including a weekly outpatient clinic.
The Post Holders Will Liaise And Support Medical And Nursing Staff On The Dietetic And Nutritional Management Of Patients In The Following Areas:
General Medicine, General surgery, Orthopaedics, Elderly Care and Stroke
The role will be supported by our highly experienced Dietitians who provide specialist care to the Stroke, GI service, Burns, Oncology, Paediatric and Spinal services.
You will also be involved in the championing of MUST across the hospital, working jointly with other health professionals in many specialties including SLT, tissue viability, stoma care and the therapy teams.
There will also be opportunities to be involved in further service development work in alignment with the department\’s priorities. Advancing clinical skills is encouraged within the department through shadowing and CPD sessions.
The post-holder will be an active part of providing clinical placements to students. We are passionate about doing our part to train the dietitians of the future.
