PPC Strategist – Ecommerce

Role Summary
The PPC Strategist plays a key role in delivering strong ecommerce performance through high-quality PPC execution, optimisation and insight.
This role is suited to someone with 2+ years’ hands-on PPC experience in ecommerce, with a strong understanding of how to drive revenue, ROAS and customer growth across ecommerce accounts.
Working as part of a performance-focused pod, you will help deliver well-structured, commercially effective PPC activity that is continuously optimised to drive measurable ecommerce growth.
The Role
- Support the delivery of high-performing ecommerce campaigns across PPC platforms, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency and measurable performance improvement.
- Implement, manage and optimise PPC campaigns in line with agreed strategies, ensuring activity is structured effectively and aligned to ecommerce objectives.
- Manage day-to-day optimisation, including bidding, budget pacing, keyword and search query management, shopping feed considerations, ad copy testing and audience performance to improve key ecommerce KPIs such as ROAS, CPA, conversion rate and revenue.
- Analyse PPC performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and use these insights to inform optimisation priorities and performance recommendations.
- Take ownership of execution quality, ensuring campaigns are accurate, well maintained and delivered to a high standard, escalating risks or challenges where needed.
Commercial Acumen
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness, understanding how PPC decisions impact revenue, profitability and client growth.
- Monitor spend, pacing and performance closely, ensuring budgets are deployed efficiently to maximise return.
- Identify opportunities to scale activity profitably, using insight from campaign performance to support recommendations and inform investment decisions.
Communication
- Support client communication by delivering clear, accurate and insight-led performance updates.
- Be confident presenting performance updates, talking through recommendations and responding to client questions in a clear and professional way.
- Translate PPC data into meaningful actions, ensuring clients and internal teams understand what is driving ecommerce performance and where improvements can be made.
- Create clear, well-structured presentations that bring together performance data, insights and recommended actions.
- Communicate clearly and proactively within the pod, sharing insights and updates to support aligned, collaborative delivery.
Collaboration & Development
- Build strong working relationships within the pod, contributing to joined-up, ecommerce-focused campaign delivery.
- Take ownership of your development, continuing to deepen your PPC expertise across Search, Shopping, Performance Max and wider ecommerce performance activity.
- Contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment by sharing learnings from campaign performance, testing and platform developments.
Strategic Contribution
- Support ecommerce strategy by identifying opportunities within live PPC campaigns and turning performance insight into clear optimisation actions.
- Contribute insights from testing, platform developments and live activity to support ongoing performance improvement.
- Work closely with internal teams to understand trading priorities and commercial drivers, ensuring PPC activity is aligned to ecommerce outcomes.
Requirements
- 2+ years’ hands-on PPC experience within an ecommerce environment, with demonstrable experience managing performance against commercial ecommerce targets.
- Demonstrable experience implementing, managing and optimising ecommerce PPC campaigns across Search, Shopping, Performance Max and Demand Gen.
- Ecommerce experience is essential, with a clear understanding of ROAS, CPA, revenue, conversion rate, feed quality, budget efficiency and how these metrics influence trading performance.
- Strong understanding of PPC platform levers, attribution and performance drivers, with a clear focus on revenue growth and efficiency.
- Google Ads experience is essential, with Microsoft Ads, Google Merchant Centre and AI Max experience desirable.
- Google Analytics experience is essential, with Google Tag Manager experience desirable.
- Applications from candidates without ecommerce PPC experience are unlikely to be suitable for this role.
- Experience managing PPC activity across global markets is desirable, including an understanding of how market, language, currency and trading differences can influence ecommerce performance.
- Confident working with data, analysing performance, interpreting results and turning findings into clear, actionable insight for both internal teams and clients.
- Proactive and commercially minded, with a strong focus on testing, learning and continuous improvement.
