The Store Design Assistant supports the delivery and ongoing evolution of Space NK’s store environments. This role provides day‑to‑day coordination across artwork updates, supplier communication, store briefings, fixture documentation, and design development support. Reporting to the Store Design Co‑ordinator, the role is integral to the smooth execution of store design updates across new store openings, refits, brand installations, and core estate enhancements. Working closely with the wider Store Design, Visual Merchandising, Creative, Category, and Retail Operations teams – as well as external suppliers and brand partners – the Store Design Assistant helps bring design concepts to life in store.
Key Accountabilities- Manage day‑to‑day communication with stores regarding design updates, fixture queries, artwork changes, and installation instructions.
- Support the Store Design Co‑ordinator in preparing clear and accurate store‑facing briefs for new fixtures, brand spaces, and design updates.
- Update, manage, and distribute artwork files, technical documents, and reference materials.
- Coordinate artwork updates and handovers to suppliers for production.
- Assist in reviewing supplier proofs, samples, and fixture updates prior to sign‑off.
- Liaise with suppliers on timelines, deliveries, technical queries, and production requirements.
- Maintain accurate version control and documentation for artwork, print specifications, materials, and fixtures.
- Assist with design development, including 3D drawings and visualisation of store design elements, producing clear spec packs for review and approval.
- Support planning and coordination of design elements for new store openings, refits, and refresh programmes.
- Prepare installation documents, asset trackers, and fixture lists for Field VM teams and stores.
- Attend selected store visits to capture photography, take measurements, and review design execution.
- Support upkeep of Space NK Own Brand in‑store presentation, ensuring all updates are communicated clearly and delivered to the highest standard.
- Assist with tracking project timelines, deliveries, and supplier deadlines.
- Support the development of store design guidelines, installation references, and technical packs.
- Maintain store layouts, design libraries, fixture inventories, and document version control.
- Create and update order forms, Excel trackers, delivery documents, and status reports.
- Help assemble presentation decks for internal reviews and cross‑functional meetings.
- Work closely with VM, Creative, Brands, Inventory, Store Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure project alignment.
- Support brand partners by collating measurements, reviewing CADs, and ensuring compliance with Space NK design standards.
- Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Store Design team.
- 1–2 years’ experience in store design, retail design, visual merchandising design, or a related creative/technical support role.
- Basic proficiency in 3D design or visualisation tools (SketchUp preferred but not essential), AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Strong Excel and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and communication.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment.
- Confident communicator, comfortable working with suppliers, internal teams, and store colleagues.
- Passion for store environments, design, and luxury retail aesthetics.
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a proactive mindset.
- Comfortable with hands‑on tasks, including measurements, sample reviews, and fixture checks.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and eager to develop within a growing design team.
