Role Overview
The Regional Manager is a senior field leader responsible for driving the strategic direction, performance and evolution of the retail channel across a defined region. Operating through a field-based leadership model, this role leads and develops Area Managers who execute strategy at store level, enabling the Regional Manager to focus on business-wide, long-term strategic priorities, transformation initiatives and sustainable growth beyond day-to-day regional and store performance. This role owns and leads key business projects representing the retail channel, driving our strategic pillars through cross-functional collaboration and change leadership. As a channel leader, the Regional Manager is accountable for shaping, influencing and embedding strategic decisions, ensuring alignment between field execution and business ambition.
The Regional Manager drives commercial performance by improving employee engagement, retention and productivity, accelerating customer acquisition and loyalty and delivering sustainable revenue and profit growth. With full regional P&L accountability, the role balances short-term results with long-term capability building. Working closely with central support functions and field-based specialist teams, the Regional Manager champions operational excellence, exceptional customer and brand experience, and scalable ways of working—positioning the region and wider business for continued growth, competitiveness and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Channel Ownership: Own and drive the execution of business strategy across the region, identifying risks, opportunities and structural improvements that unlock sustainable growth. Act as the voice of the retail channel, shaping business-wide decisions by translating field insight into clear strategic recommendations. Lead and represent major channel initiatives and transformation programmes. Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to design and deliver scalable, future-focused ways of working that strengthen long-term capability and performance. Translate strategy into regional priorities by coaching Area Managers to deliver consistent, high-impact execution—enabling you to operate at a strategic rather than operational level. Drive alignment and momentum across the estate through purposeful communication that inspires, informs and mobilises leadership teams.
- Sales Growth & Commercial Strategy: Drive regional delivery of sales budgets, LFL growth, ATV, AUS and conversion through strategic direction, insight-led prioritisation and Area Manager enablement. Lead the regional OMNI strategy, accelerating digital, app and N.dulge acquisition performance to fuel customer growth and loyalty. Leverage commercial, customer and competitor insights to influence trading strategy and unlock performance opportunities at scale. Provide clear, strategic trade insights and forward-looking recommendations to the Head of Retail, shaping business decisions beyond immediate trading cycles.
- Operational Excellence & Future Readiness: Set the operational standards and performance framework for the region, ensuring efficiency, consistency, compliance and commercial rigour—without operating in day-to-day execution. Enable Area Managers to optimise P&L performance, workforce planning and productivity through strong data capability, tooling and forward-looking planning. Own regional risk mitigation across shrinkage, compliance, health & safety and stock accuracy by driving proactive governance, not reactive firefighting. Collaborate with Loss Prevention and Compliance leaders to strengthen regional controls, mitigate risk and embed scalable, best-in-class operating standards. Lead regional oversight of new store openings and major change initiatives, embedding sustainable operating models before transition to Area Managers. Maintain strategic oversight of the operational calendar, forecasting risks, capacity constraints and execution challenges early to enable business agility.
- People Leadership & Capability Building: Build a high-performing leadership pipeline by developing Area Managers as commercial leaders, coaches and change drivers. Partner with the People Business Partner to drive talent strategy, succession planning, engagement and leadership capability at regional level. Set clear strategic expectations, empowering Area Managers to own day-to-day operations while you focus on enterprise-level priorities and transformation. Role-model modern leadership behaviours that foster accountability, inclusion, growth mindset and continuous improvement.
- Customer, Brand & Experience Leadership: Champion a customer-first culture across the region, ensuring experience excellence is embedded into both operational delivery and strategic planning. Partner with Field VM and Education leaders to shape regional experience strategy and commerciality. Lead the evolution of store environments and service models that strengthen loyalty, differentiation and emotional brand connection. Ensure omni-training strategies deliver future-fit capability in service, expertise and multi-brand excellence.
- Stakeholder Influence & Enterprise Partnership: Act as a senior business ambassador internally and externally, building partnerships that unlock growth and capability opportunities. Build trusted, high-impact relationships with central teams, shaping how strategy is designed, deployed and landed through the field. Lead and represent regional needs on enterprise-wide programmes, ensuring strong adoption, execution and long-term impact.
