Purpose of Position

To support the Merchandiser in management of the DC stock to ensure stock levels are maintained in line with business requirements to deliver sales and profit targets through effective management and implementation of the processes.

Availability

  • Understand and support the team to optimise Direct availability and minimise markdown through commercial understanding and inventory management.
  • Understand the tools required to maximise sales/availability for seasonal events, promotional activity, and exceptional trading periods through executing stock builds in system with strong use of the Single Stock File tools and understand when there is a requirement for the use of temporary SKU's.

Intake Management

  • Accurate management of the delivery schedule, ensuring delivery dates are met by brands and communicating any short shipments, late deliveries, and cancellations to the Category team and the wider business.
  • Support the Merchandiser in the management of the DSV relationship.
  • Produce and compile Monday trade reports, checking data is accurate and highlighting any anomalies to the Merchandiser.
  • Support ad‑hoc replenishment queries from the business, identifying insights and potential actions.

DC Forecasting/Management

  • Bookings management and supporting on priorities and capacity.
  • Join the DC weekly call & attend monthly visits.
  • Develop a strong relationship with the DC to deputise and support the Merchandiser on communication/implementation with the DC, and within the team, on stock management such as RTV/Price changes.
  • Work with the Merchandiser and Logistics to assist with accurate volume planning.
  • Support the management of the monthly price changes with the DC.
  • Support on all aspects of Gift card and box planning.
  • Support on all aspects of Testers management.
  • Working closely with MAA's from category teams on stock queries.

Trade Reporting

  • Prepare data for Monday trade analysis and understand how the data is used and interpreted.
  • Support requests for ad‑hoc intake and Direct queries, preparing data and understanding the objective of requests.
  • Be able to deputise for the Merchandiser on trading activities when appropriate.

Training & Development

  • Develop excellent working knowledge of all Merchandising systems: Qlikview, QlikSense, Navision, AGR.
  • Develop a good understanding of basic retail maths.
  • Develop and build strong relationships and networks with cross‑functional partners both internally and externally.
  • Support in the training and development of new starters.
  • Responsible for driving own development and actively seeking out training as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Entry Level – No merchandising experience required but some retail knowledge is preferred.
  • Good Excel skills and basic knowledge of other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Numerical – the role requires a good level of mathematical competency.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Entrepreneurial with a drive to move the department forward.
