Our client is a fast-growing global business and technology consulting firm with an established international footprint and an expanding London presence.

The firm advises corporate and private equity clients across the full transaction lifecycle and is known for its collaborative, entrepreneurial culture and multidisciplinary approach to M&A.

The Role

The firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice is seeking a Director to join its rapidly growing London office.

In this leadership role, you will work with corporate and private equity clients across the transaction lifecycle — from buy-side due diligence and sell-side readiness through carve-outs, merger integrations, separations, and post-close value creation initiatives.

As a Director, you will balance three core responsibilities: growing client relationships, leading complex engagements, and helping build the firm’s M&A practice in the UK.

You will play an integral role in shaping the London office through recruiting, mentoring, practice development, and contributing to an entrepreneurial culture, working alongside a team of experienced M&A professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development
  • Develop and expand executive relationships with corporate clients, private equity firms, portfolio companies, and strategic buyers.
  • Lead business development efforts, including originating opportunities, qualifying pursuits, developing proposals, pricing engagements, and negotiating statements of work.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional M&A, operational improvement, and value creation services.
  • Understand client investment priorities and translate those objectives into actionable consulting engagements.
  • Represent the firm in the UK market through networking, industry events, conferences, and thought leadership.
  • Collaborate across practices to bring integrated solutions to clients throughout the deal lifecycle.
  • Client Delivery
  • Lead multidisciplinary consulting teams serving clients across a variety of industries throughout the M&A lifecycle.
  • Advise clients on operational and technology due diligence, merger integration, carve-outs, separation planning, sell-side readiness, and post-close value creation initiatives.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor for complex engagements, providing strategic direction, quality assurance, and overall programme leadership.
  • Lead executive workshops and present recommendations to C-suite executives, investment teams, and boards.
  • Assess operating models, organisational structures, business processes, and technology landscapes to identify opportunities for value creation.
  • Guide clients through integration management office (IMO) or programme management office (PMO) governance, planning, execution, and risk management.
  • Partner with engagement teams to develop practical recommendations that improve operational performance, reduce risk, and accelerate value capture.
  • Manage engagement economics, including project financials, forecasting, staffing, and client satisfaction.
  • Practice Development
  • Help shape the continued growth and strategic direction of the London M&A practice.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop consultants and emerging leaders while fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Lead recruiting efforts and help attract and retain top consulting talent.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the firm’s M&A methodologies, tools, intellectual property, and market offerings.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the firm to support office initiatives and cross-functional growth opportunities.
  • Actively contribute to the entrepreneurial culture of the London office through leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 12–15+ years of consulting and/or industry experience with significant experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, separations, or large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex transaction advisory engagements, including due diligence, integration, separation, or value creation initiatives.
  • Experience working with private equity firms, corporate development teams, or strategic acquirers preferred.
  • Proven success developing executive-level client relationships and generating new business.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including proposal development, engagement economics, and account management.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary consulting teams and mentoring future leaders.
  • Strong programme and project management capabilities, including scope, schedule, risk, financial, and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Candidates must have the right to work permanently in the United Kingdom.
  • A commitment to inclusion and diversity and openness to new ideas and perspectives.
