SP1 IT Solutions is a growing technology consultancy specialising in law firms, professional services and architecture practices across the UK.

We are not a traditional MSP.

Our clients trust us as advisors and long-term technology partners. We work directly with managing partners, business owners and senior leadership to help them use technology securely, efficiently and strategically.

As we grow, we're looking for an experienced IT Solutions Consultant who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex problems and building trusted client relationships.

This role suits someone who wantsto move beyond resolving support tickets and become a genuine technology consultant helpingclients make better decisions and achieve better business outcomes.

The Opportunity

This is a varied role combining technical expertise, project delivery, cybersecurity and client

You'll work with a portfolio of professional services clients, helping them improve security, modernise infrastructure, adopt cloud technologies and get more from their technology investments.

One day you might be improving a law firm's cybersecurity posture and compliance framework; the next, leading a Microsoft 365 migration, deploying Intune, or delivering a strategic technology review.

You'll be trusted to take ownership, think commercially and build long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Consultancy & Support
  • Provide high-quality 3rd line technical support
  • Act as a trusted advisor on technology best practice
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Produce clear documentation and technical recommendations
  • Project Delivery
  • Microsoft 365 migrations and optimisation
  • Intune and endpoint management deployments
  • Cybersecurity improvements (Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, MFA, Cynet, Sophos)
  • Cloud adoption and infrastructure modernisation
  • Backup, business continuity and disaster recovery
  • Network and security infrastructure upgrades
  • Strategic Client Engagement
  • Lead technology reviews and planning sessions
  • Help clients align technology with business objectives
  • Identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and strategic recommendations
  • Support Virtual IT Director (v CIO) engagements where appropriate

We care more about capability, attitude and problem-solving than collecting certifications.

  • Core technical skills
  • Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access and MFA
  • Windows 11 and Windows Server
  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions

Just as important - the consultancy side

  • Confident communicating directly with senior, non-technical decision-makers
  • Commercially aware: you understand how technology decisions affect a business
  • Able to work independently and own engagements end to end
  • Experience within an MSP, consultancy or client-facing IT environment is highly desirable. Experience
  • supporting legal or professional services firms is advantageous but not essential.
  • What Success Looks Like
  • Take ownership and see things through to completion
  • Build trusted client relationships
  • Look beyond the immediate problem to long-term improvements
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Understand the business impact of technology
  • Enjoy learning and taking on new challenges

  • Exposure to a wide range of technologies, projects and industries
  • Direct interaction with senior decision-makers
  • Meaningful projects that genuinely impact clients
  • Ongoing professional development and training
  • A supportive, collaborative and ambitious team
  • Flexibility and autonomy
  • A real say in shaping the direction of a growing consultancy
  • This is not simply a support role. For the right individual it can develop into a:
  • Cybersecurity Consultant
  • Strategic Technology Advisor
  • Who This Role Is NOT For
  • Wants to spend their day purely closing tickets
  • Is uncomfortable speaking directly with clients
  • Requires constant direction or supervision
  • Is only interested in maintaining systems rather than improving them

Why Join SP1?

How to prepare for a job interview at SP1 IT SOLUTIONS

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
