Role Purpose

The Estimator for our Core Products is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates. This role involves analysing project requirements, collaborating with internal teams, and ensuring that estimates align with company standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating and Cost Analysis
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for core HVAC products based on project specifications and customer requirements.
    • Analyse project drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to determine material, labour, and equipment costs.
    • Develop cost breakdowns, including labour, materials, and overhead expenses.
    • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Project Review and Coordination
    • Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to gather necessary project details.
    • Assist in reviewing contract documents for accuracy and clarity.
    • Provide cost estimates for design alternatives, value engineering, or change orders as required.
    • Identify potential risks related to pricing, supply chain, or project execution.
    • Establish cost contingencies to address unforeseen issues or scope changes.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed records of estimates, change orders, and bid proposals.
    • Present cost breakdowns and bid proposals to clients, project teams, and senior management.
    • Ensure timely submission of estimates and proposals within project deadlines.
  • Compliance and Standards
    • Ensure that all estimates align with industry regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
    • Stay up to date with advancements in core HVAC products and incorporate best practices into cost estimates.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand project needs and provide cost-effective solutions.
    • Work closely with the project management team to ensure budget adherence and scope alignment.
    • Support the Major Projects team in delivering large-scale or complex projects.
    • Collaborate across departments to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
    • Keep abreast of new products, materials, and technologies to improve estimating accuracy.
    • Promote operational best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Utilise estimating software and digital tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Personal Specification

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management tools, including CRMs.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with local codes, standards, and regulations related to HVAC systems and air handling units.

Qualifications

  • HNC or HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory)
