Responsibilities
- Define protection and control and ancillary apparatus requirements and advise on construction and outage programmes where required in relation to Control & Protection.
- Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs.
- Provide technical assessment of tender submissions, preparation/review of Control & Protection design drawings and specifications.
- Ensure Control and protection networks and systems are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements.
- Provide technical support to the Project team on Control & Protection issues.
- Preparation of engineering documentation following quality processes.
- Contribute to training needs assessment for new products or similar and the development and delivery of technical, operational and safety packages for such products.
- Perform all duties with a strong emphasis on health, safety, quality and environment compliance and continuous improvement.
- Liaise across multi disciplinary engineering teams to provide end to end integrated solutions.
Qualifications
- Degree in an Engineering discipline with relevant experience.
- Chartered Engineer Status (or working towards).
- Good inter‑personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
- Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment.
- Having the ability to investigate and understand technical characteristics of substation plant and associated equipment.
- Knowledge of the characteristics and the operation and maintenance of Substation Plants and associated equipment is valuable.
- Proven experience in a responsible position working on projects with voltages from 33kV to 400kV.
