The predicted salary is between 63200 - 63200 £ per year.
Reports to the Overhead Line Design Manager and is responsible for delivering engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed design for transmission network projects (132 kV and above). The role includes managing, supervising and developing less experienced staff, providing technical support, coaching and input throughout the portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical aspects of OHL systems and associated equipment for pre‑contract design and delivery of projects.
- Assess engineering documentation, feasibility and client requirements; support preparation of accurate budgets and construction/outage programmes.
- Prepare and review basic and detailed engineering specifications for OHL system designs, costs, statutory consents and land/other consents.
- Provide technical assessment of tender submissions and report recommendations to the client; define equipment requirements for System Construction Authorisation (SCA), Project Technical Specifications and BETTA documentation.
- Control correspondence and drawings to be issued to the Project Delivery and Pre‑Contract teams, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and operational requirements.
- Support the Pre‑Contract and Project Delivery teams on Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of OHL systems and associated equipment.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree or HND/HNC with equivalent experience.
- Significant experience delivering engineering solutions and designs for high‑value, complex transmission OHL projects.
- Proficiency in PLS‑CADD and other OHL software.
- Strong communication skills, ability to influence senior managers and produce clear, concise technical reports.
- Capacity to travel on short trips and flexibility in working hours.
