Role Overview

Trainee Technical Craftsperson – Middlewich & Surrounding Districts (Full Time / Permanent). Salary from £32,240.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver district business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives, optimising return through incentive mechanisms.
  • Support delivery of robust communication activities through active customer and stakeholder engagement to facilitate project plans and deliverables affecting local communities, customers and stakeholders.
  • Deliver project plans to meet district and licence objectives, minimising outages to customers.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets such as Customer Minutes Lost, Customer Interruptions, Broad Measure of Customer Satisfaction, Guaranteed Standards and other incentive mechanisms.
  • Undertake contract management and operational switching project management as required.
  • Support continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
  • Integrate asset stewardship and ownership values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning to improve the integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network.
  • Promote exemplary safety behaviours and ensure all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities.
  • Deliver maintenance, reliability, system performance and network security business plan outputs in line with financial unit cost drivers, regulatory and business plan objectives, optimising return via appropriate system performance and customer service incentive mechanisms.

Qualifications

  • Project / programme coordination experience to enable effective delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment, including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
  • General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery.
  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills at all organisational levels.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.
  • Aware of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which the organisation operates.
  • Proven problem‑solving and solution‑devise capabilities.
  • Technical and operational experience in an industrial role, relevant to the electricity distribution network.
  • Low Voltage operational authorisation and working knowledge of the interconnected LV network.

Minimum Requirements

  • A crafts qualification, apprenticeship, NVQ, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant network construction and operational experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • LV operational authorisation.
