About the Role:

The Team: Product Platform Design (PPD) is responsible for the design, build, and evolution of SPDJI's core product platforms that support index creation, calculation, rebalance, analytics, and distribution. PPD operates using a product-led, service-based delivery model and is organised into value streams aligned to major business domains. The team works closely with Index Management, R&D, Operations, and Technology to deliver scalable, reusable platforms that support the full index lifecycle across asset classes.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • We are recruiting a Product Owner to join the Equity value stream within the Product Platform Design (PPD) organisation. This is a hybrid Product Owner / Business Analyst role, working closely with the Value Stream Lead to shape product direction while owning the detailed definition, prioritisation, and delivery of work for one or more agile teams.
  • The role requires strong understanding of the index business, hands-on engagement with technology teams, and the ability to translate requirements across Index Management, R&D, Technology, and Operations.
  • Partner with the Value Stream Lead on roadmap input and prioritisation.
  • Gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into epics, features, and user stories.
  • Own and manage the team backlog in Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Define acceptance criteria and support agile ceremonies.
  • Act as a translator between business and technology, tailoring communication for different audiences.
  • Perform hands-on user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Identify cross-platform dependencies and collaborate with other Product Owners across PPD.
  • Support delivery in a service-based, multi-team operating model.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or hybrid PO/BA in an agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of index products and operational workflows.
  • Comfortable engaging in technical discussions and simplifying complexity.
  • Experience managing backlogs using ADO or equivalent tools.
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.

Platform Alignment: This role sits within the horizontal Data Platforms function in PPD, but with a primary focus on supporting the fixed income asset class. The PO acts as the bridge between asset-class value streams and the shared data platform, ensuring asset-specific requirements are well understood, prioritised, and delivered in a way that remains aligned with common platform standards.

This role is suited to a PO who:

  • Has deep asset-class knowledge (e.g. fixed income market data, corporate actions, classifications, calendars).
  • Understands how asset-specific data nuances impact index calculation, rebalance, and analytics platforms.
  • Can translate asset-class requirements into reusable data services rather than bespoke solutions.
  • Works closely with value-stream POs (e.g. T3, FI3, multi-asset) to manage dependencies and sequencing.
  • Advocates for data quality, timeliness, and operational robustness from an asset-class perspective.

The PO must strike a balance between representing asset-class needs and protecting the integrity of the shared data platform. Success requires strong domain expertise, pragmatic decision-making, and the ability to influence without fragmenting the platform into asset-specific silos.
